Daring Heir

Following in the footsteps of her illustrious sister, Daring Heir will aim to kick off her career with a debut victory. The 2-year-old filly by Epiphaneia is set to debut in Race 5 at Kyoto Racecourse on Saturday (1600m, turf). She is a full sister to Daring Tact, the undefeated Triple Tiara-winning filly of 2020, and is trained in the same stable.

Daring Heir has been steadily prepared, primarily on the Ritto Training Center slope course, displaying speed and balance in her gallops while conserving energy. In her final prep, jockey Kohei Matsuyama, who also rode her sister, guided her through a 4F workout in 54.0 seconds with splits of 38.9 and 12.2 seconds. She climbed the hill with smooth, efficient strides.

"She reminds me a lot of her sister, even in terms of temperament," Matsuyama noted. "Her response and movement in canter were excellent, and I think the distance suits her perfectly." With her debut also set over a mile, Daring Heir is poised for a strong start, just like her legendary sibling.
