Blue Maestro, a 3-year-old colt, is set to make his debut in Race 5 at Nakayama Racecourse on Saturday, a turf race over 2000 meters. He is by first-season sire Saturnalia and hails from the illustrious "Rose" family, featuring a dam line that includes fourth dam Rosa Nay, third dam Rose Colour, and grand-dam Rosebud. His dam, Rosa Felice, is a half-sister to Rose Kingdom, the winner of the 2010 Japan Cup.

Blue Maestro has been carefully prepared at the Miho Training Center, with steady work on the slope course contributing to notable progress in agility with each session. Over the last two weeks, he has been training on the woodchip track, delivering an impressive final pre-race workout in a paired gallop, clocking 82.0 seconds for 6F, with splits of 37.4 seconds for the last 3F and a sharp 11.7 seconds for the final furlong. Trainer Yoichi Kuroiwa commented, "This horse has had some concerns with his legs in the past, but since returning to the stable, he has been training steadily, focusing on the slope course. He's still a bit immature mentally, but he's an athletic horse with great spring in his stride. He should handle the distance, and we've prepared him to be competitive." Keep an eye on this well-bred colt as he takes his first step on the track.
