Equinox officially the highest rated horse in the world

International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA) have released the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings for the first quarter of 2023. Ratings are based on performances in major races around the world during that time period.

Japanese-bred and trained Equinox secured the top spot with a rating of 129 for his performance in the Dubai Sheema Classic. He became the third Japanese horse to top the rankings after Just A Way in 2014 and A Shin Hikari in 2016.

Golden Sixty who was in the top spot in the previous publication was relegated to second with a rating of 125. Eight length G2 Nikkei Sho winner Titleholder received a rating of 124, enough to secure third place. Ushba Tesoro, winner of the Dubai World Cup tied for sixth with a rating of 122.
