Australian jockey Damian Lane obtained a short-term license and started riding in Japan last week. In an interview, he expressed his joy at returning to Japan and thanked the various stables for their support, having already achieved six winners across last weekend.
He rode three-year-old mare Tempest in Wednesday's workout, recording 4F (800m) 52.4-12.8 on the incline track, and reported a positive impression of the horse. He is also looking forward to partnering with three-year-old mare Deux Moulins for the first time in the Flora Stakes on Sunday, saying that he had watched the video of her debut win and expected her to improve into her second race.
Having secured rides in several upcoming G1 races, including Silver Sonic in the Tenno Sho (Spring), Sodashi in the Victoria Mile, and Selifos in the Yasuda Kinen, Lane is looking forward to taking up the rides and reports that he is settling well into life in Japan.
