Top lot makes 24.2 million yen at Training Sale

Pisa no Prive's 2021 colt

On the 23rd, the Training Sale 2023, organized by the Hidaka Stallion Cooperative, took place at Sapporo Racecourse. All 116 horses that went through their public workouts the day before were listed for sale, and 91 of them (53 colts and 38 fillies) were successfully auctioned off for a total of 667.04 million yen (tax included). The clearance rate reached a record high of 78.45%.

The highest-priced horse was No.49, the 2021 colt out of Pisa no Prive, by Leontes. He was sold for 24.2 million yen to Mr. Koji Yasuhara, the owner of successful horses such as First Force. The horse is a half-brother to Joy Night, a current JRA racehorse, and during his breeze the day before he recorded a time of 23.2 seconds for 2 furlongs, with the last furlong in 11.3 seconds.

In the filly category, the 2021 Real Steel filly out of Paradise Cove, who had clocked the fastest time of 10.6 seconds for the last furlong, was sold for 21.45 million yen by Normandy Farm.
