On August 12th at Ascot Racecourse in the UK, the international jockeys' invitational "Shergar Cup" was held. Featuring the world's top jockeys as they competed against each other as part of geographical teams. Representing Japan and the JRA, jockey Kazuo Yokoyama participated in the event. He accumulated an impressive 25 points during the five-race spectacle. The young rider secured victory in the first race of the day, the "Shergar Cup Dash."

The victory of the young Japanese rider marks only the second jockey from the 'Land of the Rising Sun' to secure success in the Shergar Cup, JRA legend Yutaka Take the other jockey. Yokoyama expressed his happiness, stating, "It was a privilege to ride at Ascot Racecourse alongside world-class jockeys. I intend to use this experience and push for even more success."

Eventual event winner, Team Ladies emerged on top. Jockey Hollie Doyle claimed the Silver Saddle award which is awarded to the jockey with the most points, she accumulated 48 points.
