In the highly anticipated G2 Sapporo Kinen, a lineup of top-class contenders will be assembled. While all eyes will be on the participation of Jack d'Or and Shahryar, attention should also be directed towards Win Marilyn. The six-year-old mare clinched the G1 Hong Kong Vase in late 2022 anddeserves the upmost respect. Last year, she secured a third-place finish in the same race, behind Jack d'Or and Panthalassa. With the stage set, she is poised to make her mark once again. Partnered once again by jockey Matsuoka, the duo is aiming to ascend to the pinnacle in Hokkaido's premier race after a year-long hiatus.

After finishing sixth in the Dubai Sheema Classic in March, she has been given a spell to rejuvenate. Refreshed and revitalized, she arrived in Sapporo in late July. As her preparations have progressed, she had a piece of work on turf ridden by jockey Matsuoka. Although she trailed by half a length during the work, her training time left no room for complaint.

Technical training assistant Yajima commented, "I think that one workout provided the necessary work out. Over the weekend, she covered four furlongs in 55-56 seconds and her finish was the best since she has arrived in Sapporo." With each passing day, her condition has been steadily improving.

Last year, she finished third after prolonged duel between Jack d'Or and Panthalassa, just missing out. However, she managed to surpass the favourite of the race Sodashi and emerged as the leading filly in the race. Her result in the Dubai Sheema Classic was better than her sixth would suggest. She was one and a half lengths behind the fifth-place finisher, Shahryar. These margins suggest that a reversal of fortune is certainly within the realm of possibility.

This summer, the aim is to start strongly once again on the Hokkaido turf. "The food here seems to be delicious and she's been eating well. It feels like she could perform even better but she's gradually developing that signature rhythmic and elastic stride that's characteristic of her," commented Yajima. Even at the age of 6, the mare maintains a youthful spirit. Win Marilyn, who has conquered the world, continues to captivate fans in Japan.
