Mama Cocha and Yuga Kawada took the honours in Sunday's G1 Sprinters Stakes at Nakayama Racecourse. Mad Cool made a late move inside the final two furlongs but the challenge was fended off by just a nose. Namura Clair came home in third.

The dam of Mama Cocha, Buchiko, produced the G1-winning white wonder Sodashi a year before Sunday's headline winner. The sisters are now both G1 winners in Japan.

Winning jockey Kawada, who also rode Sodashi in the G1 Yasuda Kinen, reflected, "She is different from Sodashi and they both have other strong points. It did not take long for her to become a G1 winner, and I am excited for her future."
