This year's Japanese Derby winner Tastiera was staying hot ahead of the G1 Arima Kinen. He gave a sharp display with a quick turn of foot in his final fast work ahead of the race, clocking 82.3 seconds for the final six furlongs and 11.3 for the final furlong.

Trainer Noriyuki Hori commented, "He worked great but his breath work could be better. I think after today's work, it will get much better. He gained some weight after the last race but the quality and quantity of the workouts have been enough for him to be in the best condition. He has also improved in terms of responding to his rider's command."
