This week, racing will take place at both Niigata and Sapporo Racecourses, featuring two graded stakes races.
On Sunday, the G3 Leopard Stakes will be the highlight at Niigata Racecourse. Notable entries include Mikki Fight, who is fresh off a third-place finish in the G3 Unicorn Stakes after winning his two previous starts. Satono Phoenix, runner-up in last year's JPN2 Hyogo Junior Grand Prix, and Meisho Fudo, who is on a two-race winning streak will line-up in opposition.
Meanwhile, at Sapporo Racecourse, the G3 Elm Stakes will also take place on Sunday. The field includes Dura Erede, who finished fifth in the G1 Dubai World Cup, Natural High, who won the Open Class Marine Stakes on his last start. Wire-to-wire winner of the G3 Heian Stakes, Mitono O, is sure to be among the betting favourites.
As part of the heat countermeasures at Niigata Racecourse, there will be a break of about three and a half hours between the end of Race 5 at 11:35 AM and the start of Race 6 at 3:10 PM. The main race, the Leopard Stakes, is scheduled as Race 7 with a post time of 3:45 PM, and the final race of the day, Race 12, will start at 6:25 PM.
