East Stud announces the retirement of Dunkirk

On July 28th, East Stud, which is located Urakawa in Hokkaido, announced the retirement of Dunkirk as an active stallion.

Dunkirk is an American-bred son of Unbridled's Song out of Secret Status by A.P. Indy. His dam was the winner of the U.S. G1 Kentucky Oaks and multiple other races. Sold as a yearling, he was a highly sought after commodity, fetching approximately 380 million JPY at the time.

Dunkirk made his debut in 2009, he finished second in the U.S. G1 Florida Derby and the U.S. G1 Belmont Stakes but was retired at the end of that year. In his first year as a stallion he produced Havana, winner of the U.S. G1 Champaign Stakes in 2013. In Japan, Ice Giant won the Jpn3 JBC Nisai Yushun in 2021.

He will spend the rest of his life as a service horse at Yogibo Versailles Farm in Hidaka, Hokkaido.
