Canela Fina, a 2-year-old filly by Frankel, is set to debut on Saturday at Niigata in Race 4 (1600m turf).
During her final track work at the Miho Training Center on the woodchip track, she clocked an impressive 6F in 82.7 seconds, with a last 3F in 38.5 seconds and a final furlong in 11.8 seconds, finishing a length ahead of Jeux d'Eau. In her most recent workout, she produced a smooth final furlong in 11.6 seconds in a three-horse gallop. Trainer Takahisa Tezuka commented, "I think she will perform well. She prefers good ground and a light turf course. The outer course with a relaxed pace suits her." With Christophe Lemaire booked to ride, Canela Fina aims for a successful debut.
