Jezero, a 2-year-old colt by Saturnalia, who fetched a high price of 300 million yen (excluding tax) at the 2022 Select Sale, will make his debut on Sunday at Niigata in Race 3.

For four consecutive weeks, Jezero has worked in paired track work on the woodchip track at the Ritto Training Center. Trainer Naosuke Sugai praised him, saying, "He has a large stride, and at the end, his posture lowers a bit, showing good movement. He has a competitive spirit, but that's typical at this stage. His level of completeness is high." Sugai's stable has had a strong performance with the current 2-year-old generation, with three horses debuting and two winning Newcomer races. Jezero, a half-brother to 2018 G1 Mile Championship winner Stelvio, looks to continue this trend.
