Race favourite, Food Man (a two-year-old colt by Kingman out of Midnight Crossing), took control of the race from the jump and impressively led all the way to winning post, handling the rain-sodden conditions with ease.

Winning jockey Kohei Matsuyama commented, "He jumped out of the barrier quickly and took the lead effortlessly, allowing me to guide him exactly where I wanted. I believe he could have shown even more speed on a firmer track, but it was great to see him handle these conditions so well." Trainer Minoru Oguri reflected on the performance, saying, "Even in training, I could sense his ability," indicating his satisfaction with the decisive win.
