Yutaka Take (55), partnered with Irish horse Al Riffa and finished 11th on his 11th attempt at winning the prestigious Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. Despite his experience, he could not overcome the formidable international competition.
Reflecting on the race, Take said, "I would have liked to secure a better position if the start had been smoother. Results are everything in racing, and it was a tough outcome." He discussed race strategy with trainer Joseph O'Brien beforehand, "We didn't focus on too many details, but the plan was for Al Riffa to relax during the race and finish strongly. While I thought his condition was good, he didn't respond as well as I hoped just before we hit the final stretch."
This marked his return to the Arc after riding Do Deuce to a 19th-place finish in 2022. Reflecting on the experience, Take said, "Being here today and riding in this race was a privilege. Although I didn't get the result I wanted, I enjoyed it. There's something special about being part of this race." He added, "I have some exciting races and horses to look forward to, both in Japan and the U.S. I want to make this autumn a strong season. I received so much support before I left, and I'm sure many were cheering for me from their homes. I'll keep pushing forward."
