Desierto with Yasunari Iwata on board won the G3 Chunishi Shimbun Hai at Chukyo Racecourse. Sent-off favourite Lord del Rey finished second two lengths behind the winner and Matenro Leo came home in third a head behind Lord del Rey. The winning time was 1:58.4.

Desierto is a son of Drefong out of Admire Sceptre by King Kamehameha. He won Listed Andromeda Stakes last time since returning on turf for the first time in two years. He continued the streak, winning the first graded stakes title at Chukyo today.
