Murphy and Botti combine in European raid as Giavellotto wins the G1 Hong Kong Vase

Giavellotto from England and Irish-born jockey Oisin Murphy combined to win the G1 Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday. Dubai Honour finished second, two lengths behind the winner, and Stellenbosch from Japan came home in third, a length behind Dubai Honour. The winning time was 2:27.53.
Giavellotto is a son of Mastercraftsman out of Gerika, by Galileo. Giavellotto has been a successful stayer in Europe with three graded-stakes titles but this is his first G1 title following a third-placed finish in the G1 Irish St.Leger last time out.
