Star Anise is expected to show a new level of her natural ability as she stretches out to a mile. Below are the key contenders set to line up in the G1 Hanshin Juvenile Fillies.

Star Anise (Filly, 2yo), who broke her maiden in her second career start with an emphatic seven-length victory, returns after a strong runner-up effort in the Chukyo Nisai Stakes. Despite suffering interference when making contact with the rail, she briefly surged to the lead and was narrowly denied by the winner, pulling well clear of the rest of the field. With her race style and proven stamina, the added distance presents no concerns, and she looks ready to claim the Championship among two-year-old fillies. Kohei Matsuyama takes the ride.

Alankar (Filly, 2yo) also possesses a top-class turn-of-foot. She is unbeaten in her only two starts, both of which were dominant wins where she never allowed her rivals to threaten. Her preparation has been smooth, last week, she impressed by finishing ahead in a three-horse workout. Having already won a mile race at Hanshin Racecourse, she holds a significant advantage, and a third straight victory is well within reach. Yuichi Kitamura will partner with her.

Other notable contenders include Taisei Vogue (Filly, 2yo), who is expected to perform even better on firm ground, Arbanne (Filly, 2yo), who has consistently raced over the mile, Shonan Charis (Filly, 2yo), should appreciate the step up in distance, His Masterpiece (Filly, 2yo), a tough front-runner, and from the ballot group, Garavogue (Filly, 2yo), a full sister to G1 winner Danon Scorpion. Post time is 3:40 p.m JST.
