The 61st running of the G3 Chunichi Shimbun Hai was held on the 13th at Chukyo Racecourse, where the third favourite Shake Your Heart (Horse, 5yo), ridden by Yoshihiro Furukawa, scored a decisive victory. Settled in mid-division through the early stages, he swept to the outside in the stretch and pulled clear, defeating the seventh favourite Red Valiente (Horse, 6yo), who narrowly won a tight battle for second, by one length. The winning time was 1 minute 57.6 seconds.

A further head back in third was the fifth favourite, June Take (Colt, 4yo). The race favourite Family Time (Colt, 4yo) could do no better than seventh.

Shake Your Heart is by Heart's Cry out of Rumba Loca, by Sri Pekan. He had shown his quality earlier this season when finishing second in the Kokura Kinen in his first start at graded level, before running 11th in the Niigata Kinen. Bouncing back with a runner-up finish in the Andromeda Stakes last time out, he went one better here to record his first graded stakes victory.
