Avverare, with Keita Tosaki on board, won the G3 Sekiya Kinen at Niigata Racecourse. The pair took up a mid-field position and came through the pack of horses in the home stretch, ultimately catching up to Divina who finished second, 3/4 length behind Avverare.

Rhinebeck came home in third, a nose behind Divina, and the favourite of the race La La Christine finished a disappointing ninth.

Avverare is a daughter of Duramente out of Albiano, by Harlan's Holiday. Sunday's victory was a first stakes win for Avverare.
