Japanese buyers maintain their strong presence at the Keeneland September Sale

Japanese buyers were out in force at the Keeneland September Sale Book 1 on the 11th and 12th.
Koji Maeda wasted little time getting on the result's sheet with the purchase of a filly by unbeaten Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist. Shis is out of G1 Ogden Phipps Stakes winner Tiz Miz Sue commanding a price of $725,000. Connections have a long history of success purchasing international bloodstock, they are known for the purchase of Rhodochrosite, a dam of Japanese Triple Crown winner Contrail.
Yoshizawa Stable also had fruitful two days of shopping with the purchase of four yearlings for gross spend $1.4m. Other buyers to mention are North Hills led by Maeda have purchased a yealing by Into Mischief for $475,000. Trainer, Hideyuki Mori, signed for two yearlings spending $200,000 and $185,000.
During the two days of the first session, 23 horses were sold for over 1 million USD. The highest-priced lot was lot no. 261, a colt by Into Mischief out of Nonna Mia for a price of 3 million USD. Lot number 337, a filly by Uncle Mo out of Starship Warpspeed came in second with a price of 2.5 million USD.
