The JBBA announce Sharp Azteca as their new stallion

The Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association (JBBA) announced on October 6 that Sharp Azteca, winner of five graded races, is to join their stallion division. Sharp Azteca is a son of Freud out of So Sharp, by Saint Liam. Freud is full brother to Giant's Causeway.

During an active racing career, he won five graded races, predominantly at a mile races, including the Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) in 2017, which he won by five and quarter-lengths over Mind Your Biscuits. His final career stats are 8 wins from 17 starts.

As a sire, his first crop debuted last year, they won 34 races as juveniles. Ultimately, he was crowned as the leading two-year-old sire in North America in 2022. Sharp Azteca currently resides at Three Chimneys Farm in the U.S., he will relocate to JBBA Shizunai Stallion Farm beginning in 2024.
