His Majesty the Emperor will visit Tokyo Racecourse on Tenno Sho day

The JRA have announced that His Majesty the Emperor will be present at Tokyo Racecourse on the afternoon of Sunday, October 29th to see the 168th Tenno Sho (Autumn). He will witness a special exhibition "The Traditional Tenno Sho: With the History of Japanese Horse Racing" held at the JRA Horse Racing Museum to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Horse Racing Act.

It has been 11 years since the Emperor has visited Tokyo Racecourse, the 2012 Japanese Derby his last appearance. He saw the Derby in 2007 and 2002 when he was the Crown Prince. In addition, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the enactment of the Horse Racing Act in 1923, the race will be held as the "168th Tenno Sho (Autumn) in Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Horse Racing Act."

It was also announced that all visitors to the racecourse will be subjected to baggage checks in the presence of enhanced security measures by police officers.
