Blow the Horn wins the G1 Takarazuka Kinen this year

On September 23rd, the JRA held a regular Kanto press conference at its Tokyo headquarters, announcing the proposed schedule for the 2025 fiscal year and countermeasures against the heat during the summer.

In an effort to create an environment in which the leading horses can run more easily, the G1 Takarazuka Kinen will be brought forward by two weeks to June 15th, the week after the G1 Yasuda Kinen. In conjunction with this move, the timing of other middle-distance races in the season will also be revised.

To avoid the summer heat, racing will be resumed in the Kansai region during the period when only two racetracks, Sapporo and Niigata, will be holding races. In addition, the "extension of racing hours" that was held for two weeks in Niigata this summer will be extended from two to four weeks, and will also be held at Chukyo Racecourse during the same period.

The G3 Kyoto Kimpai will be held at Chukyo Racecourse at the beginning of the year, as the Kyoto horse races will continue to be held back-to-back due to continuing renovation work on Hanshin Racecourse. Also, since December 28th is a Sunday, the G1 Hopeful Stakes will be held on the 27th, the day before the G1 Arima Kinen.

The Yonago Stakes, a listed race, that was established as the opening race of the Summer Mile Series, has been renamed the Shirasagi Stakes and has been promoted to G3 status. The G3 Arlington Cup will be renamed the Churchill Downs Cup, the G2 Fuchu Himba Stakes will be renamed the Ireland Trophy, and the Kyoto Himba Stakes, Mermaid Stakes, and Kokura Nisai Stakes will be discontinued.
