The unfancied Chevalier Rose with Yuichi Kitamura on board pulled off a huge upset in the G2 Kyoto Daishoten at Kyoto Racecourse. Deep Bond finished second, a head behind the winner. and Meisho Breguet came home in third, 3/4 lengths behind Deep Bond. The winning time was 2;22.9.

Chevalier Rose is a son of Deep Impact out of Viane Rose, by Sevres Rose. This is his first graded stakes title after enjoying a good spring season in which he finished a close second in the G2 Meguro Kinen. He also won an entry spot in the G1 Tenno Sho (Autumn).
