Soul Rush, with Taisei Danno on board, won Sunday's G1 Mile Championship at Kyoto Racecourse. Elton Barows finished second, two-and-a-half lengths behind the winner, and Win Marvel came home in third, a neck behind Elton Barows. The winning time was 1:32.0.
Soul Rush claimed his long-awaited G1 Mile Championship victory, finally breaking through on the big stage after a string of near-misses. The son of Rulership out of Eternal Bouquet (by Manhattan Cafe) had shown his potential in past G1 outings, finishing fourth in the 2022 Mile Championship, second in the 2023 Mile Championship, fourth in the Hong Kong Mile, and third in this year's Yasuda Kinen. He delivered a stellar performance this time to secure his maiden G1 title.
For jockey Taisei Danno, this marked his second G1 win, his first since the 2023 Takamatsunomiya Kinen with First Force. Remarkably, Danno had only just returned to Japan after riding Yamanin Sympa to a sixth-place finish in the Bahrain International Trophy late on November 16. Yet, he wasted no time making his mark with this G1 triumph.
