The fifth favourite, Koganeno Sora, claimed her first graded stakes victory in Hokkaido on Sunday. The second favourite, Bond Girl, finished in second place, while the seventh favourite, Argine, came in third.
Ultimately, it was a duel between two three-year-old fillies, both carrying the lightest weight of 51 kilograms. As they rounded the fourth corner and entered the straight, Koganeno Sora surged to the lead in the middle of the track, with Bond Girl charging fiercely from behind. It was a close finish, but Koganeno Sora managed to hold on by a head.
Jockey Yuji Tannai, who guided Koganeno Sora to victory, said, "Carrying 51 kilograms, I felt it was okay to go a bit wide on the corners. I wanted to ride calmly and be in a position where I could make a move at any time. I had confidence in the horse's response, so it was just a matter of timing the move. Having ridden her in training, I knew her well, and I confidently urged her forward," he said with enthusiasm.
