Sixth favourite Drop of Light clinched her first graded stakes victory with a brilliant burst of speed from a prominent position to win the G3 CBC Sho, and helped trainer Yuichi Fukunaga celebrate his first graded stakes win in his debut year as a trainer. Jockey Hideaki Miyuki claimed his second CBC Sho victory, the first since Headliner in 2010. The winning time was 1 minute and 7.5 seconds.
Third favourite Suzu Khalom finished second by a neck, surging together with the winner as if in a match race, while second favourite Grand Est held on for third after leading early.
Miyuki, reflecting on the win, said, "I'm really happy. I have to wonder if it's okay that I'm the one to give Yuichi Fukunaga's stable its first graded stakes win," he added with a wry smile. "With an inside draw, I felt we could have a good race if we managed to navigate well. At the fourth corner, I felt we had plenty in hand, and as long as we could catch the leaders, I was confident we could hold off the challengers behind. The stable put everything into preparing for this race, and I knew I couldn't afford to mess it up," he said, wiping the sweat from his brow with satisfaction.
