Equinox won his fourth consecutive Grade 1 title in G1 Takarazuka Kinen at Hanshin Racecourse on Sunday. The winning time was 2:11.2. Through Seven Seas finished second, a neck behind the winner, and Justin Palace came home in third.
Jockey Christophe Lemaire reflected, "I made a move towards the front earlier than usual. We had to run wider but the condition of the turf was not good inside so I made sure that he come home safely. I am glad he answered my command."
"We jumped out of the gate smoothly but could not settle in an ideal position. The pace was fast so I was not worried about not catching up at all. He was very relaxed in the first bend and was travelling very well." On his future, Lemaire commented, "Takarazuka Kinen is a difficult race for a well-backed horse to win. He is ranked No.1 and I am happy that we were able to win this. I am looking forward to winning bigger races with him."
